This Lolita, pale and polluted, and big with another men's child, but still gray-eyed, still sooty-lashed, still auburn and almond, still Carmencita, still mine - even then I would go mad with tenderness at the mere sight of your dear wan face, at the mere sound of your raucous young voice, my Lolita.

  • Sydney Day IV

    Camera trouble
. I realized I forgot to bring my battery charger. Camera batt running low, decided to switch to Sophie's cam for the trip.
. Couple days later, Sophie's memory card was full and there was no way we could delete the pics or transfer them to a different source.
. Decided to borrow Sophie's friend's camera, there was only half batt left. We were powerless, armed with 3 dying battery cameras, we ventured to the Opera House snapping as quick as we can, rationing our batteries.
. That was the only crop up we encountered in our trip.

Supersized. Everything is supersized, their Myers are gargantuous, double storey

Today we set off for more sightseeing.
We set off to the Art Gallery of NSW located along Art Gallery Road within The Domain.

We checked in St Mary's Cathedral first

We continue to our Art Gallery.

Isn't the name Woolloomooloo extremely cute?

We were extremely lucky to strike good weather during our entire trip

    Arrived.

Didn't take much pictures just a few lame ones of us posing. However I did venture into Sidney Nolan and Charles Blackman's paintings. I also rekindled recollections of the Australian artists I studied in Year 12.
Conclusion- I still prefer classical art, modern art is too abstract for an aesthetic simpleton like me.

    Evariste Luminais (France, b.1822, d.1896)
    The sons of Clovis II
    1880

This painting stopped me. I was fascinated with how Luminais captured the agonising expression of his figures.

This was my favourite from the gallery. It is especially beautiful upclose and personal.
I have a soft heart for mythology and drama.

Lord Frederic Leighton (England, b.1830, d.1896)
    Cymon and Iphigenia
    1884

Cymon and Iphigenia: A Tale of Love
The story of Cymon and Iphigenia comes from Boccaccio's "The Decameron", a collection of 100 novellas written between 1349 and 1353.
The tale intended to demonstrate the power of love. As Iphigenia sleeps in a grove by the sea, a noble but coarse and unlettered Cypriot youth, Cymon, seeing Iphigenia's beauty, falls in love with her and, by the power of love, becomes an educated and polished courtier.

Despite beautiful weather, there were still extremely strong winds from everywhere!

We embarked to Sydney Uni after lunch.. Sophie's cousin joined us and we traversed to the uni which was located at a nearby suburb, a 45 mins walk.
I hate to admit but Syd uni is so much more beautiful than our Melb uni. It has all that English architecture and olden vibe which our Melb uni lacked, or otherwise scattered sporadicaly.
Sydney uni is extremely big, extremely beautiful and extremely English. One would actually fail to distinguish and mistook it as a Cambridge or an Oxford.

That's a unilodge in case you didn't know

Somehow the place reminds me of Harry Potter. Hmmm

I have no idea where they came from

Charming and quaint place to study I reckon (:

It was a long day, and very cold.
We just headed back to our place after a long and dreary tiring walk.

At night, we were so stuffed from lunch we settled on snacks instead.
I went back to the Chinese bakery.

And we took an unexpected long night walk to Circular Quay and The Rocks. I swear I jumped when I saw the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. It was absolutely mind blowing, my brains almost spilled!
I was fanatical about The Rocks, its such a charming european ( more specifically Irish ) little town.
They were all very beautiful and quiet at night even though its a Friday night, I simply couldn't wait for daybreak to visit the place again. It is going to be a very exciting day and I could barely sleep.

Oh there was a Guylian Chocolate cafe located in The Rocks too. In fact, there are a number of notable supermarket-brands-chocolate cafes in Sydney.

I was jumping like a jumping jack!

We were initially scouring for DFS which according to the map stated that it is located next to LV along George St. We searched up and down George St in the City for ages, went to the city's LV but still no sign of DFS.
Adamant and crazy enough to brave the winds, we braced our gut and was determined to look for DFS.
Combed the entire George St, over 600+ units until we reached the end of George St, on the fringe of The Rocks we dumbly realized there were 2 LVs, in fact 2 Guccis, 2 of every freaking thing!

LOL! How could we not realize, it is Sydney after all!

I pride myself with a victory Guylian hot choc in front of DFS! Hot choc was amazing btw

There are great winds today. Its gloomy, grey and cold.
I am wrapped up in fleece listening to seabear in front of the fireplace sipping coffee.

  • Chocolate fudge brownie

Goodbye beautiful Mon- tue-wed timetable. This semester I have to start getting used to an incoherent timetable, bummer.
Headed to school to get my new texts. Heavy as hell almost broke my left arm. Uni texts are extremely costly, I need a side job.

Busy busy day with plenty of errands to run. I am glad my workplace didn't ring me for shift work on the weekends cause I would really like to cherish my last 2 days of freedom before school starts. Besides, I need to work on my Sydney entries.

Hwaro korean bbq with matey and sel. It was as amazing as I expected, we were concentrating on our food throughout the entire session that we hardly spoke. Pictures to follow later.

A friend and I were discussing a few days ago about relationships, he further reaffirmed my opinion, I am just not a relationship person.
I see myself as charitable, for charity, if that makes any sense.

Recently, Fjord reminded me of a certain figment we have spoke of in the past.
We imagined meeting in the middle, spending a long lazy summer in the Land of smiles, a long vacation of an intense affair.
Nowadays, I dream of it sometimes.

    Picture of the night

Today is Yvonne's (my housemate) birthday. On account that I have been baking consecutively for the past few days, I was requested to bake a cake for her which I gladly obliged.
The cake was supposedly to be a Hungarian flourless Hazelnut cake, a recipe I scabbed from the internet but it turned out to be a flop.
The recipe was strayed and I panicked, so I had a pre-mixed chocolate brownie as back up.

When the 'cake' was ready, it didn't appear as it should be. So I DIY-ed it and it emerged as an experimental cake that turned into a almond biscuit.

Nonetheless, it was actually very good.
Everybody liked it and I personally love it too. Wow

The cake. I'm actually quite proud of myself

    Birthday girl

We had steamboat in the cold. It was super shiok! There were 7 of us, the girls invited their group of super adorable friends and we had tremendous fun.

Battle ensues over the whipped cream

    Screw You

    I'm screwed!

    It was a wonderful night.

Btw I just received my exam results. I did pretty well except for Chinese Politics, I expected it to be the best but it turned out the worst - a credit. I expected the worst which was Chinese, turned out to be the best - Distinction.
Life can be so weird sometimes.
And I cannot wait to hammer my Chinese politics prof - 'Old China', he altered my grades which was why I had a credit instead of my well deserved distinction! SCREW YOU

    Grades as follows:

    Chinese - 71
    Chinese politics - 62
    American foreign policy - 67
    Management - 57

  • Sydney Day III

Today we set off to the famous Bondi Beach and then later, Paddy's market in the arvo before spending the rest of the day shopping about in the massive city.

    Bondi Beach

Bondi was so much better from what I remembered. I do see the appeal of it, its such an iconic beach with beautiful water and sandy beaches. I had fun walking barefoot. The wind was strong but the weather was agreeable enough for a beautiful day out.

Beautiful beachhouses. Now, I'm not much of a beach person but the idea of living by the beach is still very attractive!

We took like a million bucket pictures

Such  clean beaches! Apparently they clean it daily !

I need to learn this jump!

Maybe the currents were strong and tiding which works his way, or this guy over here definitely possess some 'qing gong'. He was practically floating along speedily like some chinese kungfu master.

    haha i love this pic!

    lunchie lunch

    back to the pretty beaches

Notice the spectral of blues residing within the ocean. We crossed over to the other end and were invited to a tranquil sea of aquas. Mesmerizing!

    crystal clear

    distinct shades od Bondi

The other side of Bondi presented a completely different Bondi. It resembled more like the Italian sea, the greek Aegan ( of course its incomparble ) and the greek/italian summerhouses. It was wonderfully delightful.

    ahh the wonders of nature

    STRONG WINDS

    Bondi neighborhood

We proceed to Paddy's market where things are so much cheaper than our Vic Marks.
Its where you get all the chapelang stuff at a stooping low than retailed prices.
    I bought cheap makeup for 5 - 8 bucks!

    CITY

Mum and I used to frequent Paddy's market everyday during our visit

    Chinatown more chinatown

    the loyal brand of meesua

Seems as if I am stalking them. Actually I was having fun trying out different variations of the shots, I love the breed of Asian supermarkets, they offer alot of excitement in pictures.

    sachima!!! :)

Pay your respects to the Queen. We are in front of Queen Victoria Building

    The city during sunset

    The old fashioned elevator, charming

Every building in Syd is freaking massive. Their Apple store is one huge giant block by itself. Its way too overwhelming. Conclusion, everything melbourne lacks sydney compensates TWICE. Every freaking bank building is 2,3,4 times so much more grander and more beautiful than the branch in melb.
Like I say, the best are all concentrated within the Sydney CBD.
I gape at their grandoise like an kid gaping in a candy store.

Some pictures are incoherence to the order. Pardon me, I'm lost myself and too exhausted to rearrange them. Just pretend they make sense!

We had Asian food again for dinner at Dixon foodcourt which is always packed and thriving in business. Sydney has so many asian foodcourts in chinatown whose fare beats our melbourne chinese restaurants hands down. Their asian fare is so much cheaper, more variety, wider serving ( Too much we end up constipating), heaps much more tastier than ours. Maybe it is due to the overwhelming population of asians in Syd as compared to Melb. Eitherway, I miss dining at no frills asian foodcourts back in Syd, they have the best food in town!
